Vollok is a long-dead drow necromancer and lens-maker whose shadow stretches across much of the Gauntlight's history. The name first surfaces in [S16] when a ghost cries "you're not my Vullock" over a recovered portrait — indicating Vollok was the ghost's lost love, believed dead. Across early sessions, multiple overlapping identities consolidate into one figure: [S19] describes Vollok as a figure served by Borbo, obsessively fixated on Belkhorum, and deeply invested in soul-bound doll mechanics; [S20] tentatively links Vollok to the heirloom sword Rose Argent, suggesting she once defended allies with it and that Carman may be a descendant (low confidence, heavy ASR noise); [S24] confirms him as a vain apprentice of Belcorra who underwent a "shapestone ritual" — the larva-boy transformation — and authored notes in Aklo/Sakvroth detailing the gauntlight ritual and the void glutton, with Belcorra dismissing him as always having overestimated himself; [S26] places his long-haired drow body among three specimens mounted in the Voidglutton's nest, the Voidglutton named as his patron; [S28] reiterates his Rose Guard membership and his bond to the Rosa Argentis. Later sessions deepen the portrait: [S39] places him in Wrin's historical account of "the fight with Belcorra and the aftermath with Vol and Acephonus"; [S50] recounts that he became maddened by an empty-death echo, nearly killed a townsfolk, and was slain by his own comrades before his body crumbled to dust. By [S58] the party recovers his Lantern of Empty Light and reads his blueprints — showing slots for four lenses he claimed to have recovered and intended to keep safe, with final writings stating the Gauntlight ritual was complete and the lighthouse had "remembered its purpose." He had also kept Lazda imprisoned and drained to power the lattice. As of [S60], the party characterizes him as an egotistical, emotionally volatile "simp" for Belcorra who smashed his own lens workshop in grief after her death, with his three clustered workshops — lens fabrication, a Create Undead drill-table, and a soul-transfer/construct lab — still bearing evidence of his destructive spiral.
