TL;DR: The party survived a brutal, near-TPK fight against a mist stalker far above their level, then smashed a skeletal giant, explored a torture chamber and a Nimbaloth shrine (collapsing its floor into a deep pit), glimpsed a reanimating giant worm directly beneath the lighthouse, and ended the session mid-ambush against club-wielding morlocks. Still level 2.
Asked by Otari's mayor and townsfolk to investigate the source of magic beneath the keep, the party descended a level, found a green light and an "I was Otari, save me below" message on the wall, and chased the fleeing light through a hidden door down to a new level — where a magical mist began to coil around Venris. (00:00:04–00:05:56)
The mist solidified into a giant tentacled, single-eyed mist stalker, and the whole room filled with concealing fog (flat DC 5 to hit anything). It grabbed, immobilized, and constricted the party, dropping Venris and Cid to dying more than once. The party burned hero points — mostly on failed re-rolls — while Veve's healing song and Abbas's Bless and Forbidding Ward barely kept everyone upright. After a long grind, Venris landed the kill. The party learned this was a lone survivor — a corrupted water elemental, far above their level ("we shouldn't be here") — and that wind could have blown away its deadly fog if they'd thought to try. (01:36:38, 01:37:16, 01:38:08)
Recovering over several ten-minute rests (Treat Wounds, Battle Medicine, refocusing), Venris found a hidden supply cache behind a sliding wall: two lesser healing potions and an oak potion (Oaken Resilience). The party debated retreating and headed back upstairs toward the boats. (01:49:24, 01:49:30, 02:08:44)
On the way up they found a harmful mold mound ("the poop") blocking one route, a cavern with boats / a pilot ship, and a doorway where a giant horned skeleton was assembling. Veve (the self-styled "Poop Mancer") failed to slip past the mold and took damage. With the skeleton cutting off their escape, they chose to fight it. (02:01:19, 02:06:51)
The mindless giant wielded a glaive, half-plate, and horns. Cid critically disarmed it, dropping the glaive; too mindless to re-grip, it kept phantom-swiping as if still armed. Veve finished it by telekinetically smashing a wooden chair into it ("Sometimes the healers gotta do the damage"). Loot: the glaive and a dented-but-good suit of half-plate. (02:17:23, 02:41:37, 02:42:53)
They cleared a torture chamber, used a rusted ring to open a secret passage, and found a circular room with a mossy Nimbaloth skull idol. Smashing it collapsed the room's floor into a ~30-foot brick pit with a door at the bottom. Through another door they saw a circular room with a coiling blue light-ribbon and the desiccated remains of an enormous worm — apparently being reanimated. They slammed the door shut and worked out that this room sits directly below the lighthouse, realizing their old map doesn't match this level. (03:06:20, 03:07:15, 03:10:11, 03:13:34)
Investigating a snarl, they ambushed pale, mushroom-eyed morlocks carrying clubs. Venris used his Surprise Attack for the first time (a crit). The morlocks fled when hurt; Venris downed a runner with his shortbow. The session ended mid-fight — to be picked up next time. (03:24:02, 03:36:11, 03:47:06)

Speakers are labeled A–D in the transcript. Best-guess character mapping (medium/low confidence): A = Cid (Cidolfus), B = Venris (Venris/Venice), C = Veve (BB), D = the GM "Richie". The cleric Abbas is referenced across speakers and its controlling player is unclear. Draft artifact — citations point to transcript timestamps for review.
| 00:00:04 | Recap: Returning to the Keep and Chasing the Green Light A player-narrated recap of the prior session: the party returned to town, met the mayor and assembled townsfolk who asked them to go back and investigate the source of magic (Elthora/'El Thora') beneath the keep. They descended a level, found a green light behind a door with a message on the wall, and chased the fleeing light 'like a cat chasing a laser pointer' through doors, ignoring a room of bomb remains, until a hidden door let them skip down a level. A mist surrounded a character as they reached the next room. The party is still level 2. [S6 · 00:00:04 · turn 0001 · scene 001] |
| 00:06:09 | Combat: The Mist Stalker in the Fog Room The magical mist surrounding Venris solidifies into a giant tentacled eye-creature (later identified as a mist stalker, a corrupted water elemental) and combat begins. The whole room is filled with concealing mist, forcing flat DC 5 checks to attack. The creature repeatedly grabs, immobilizes, and constricts the party, dropping Venris and Cid to dying multiple times. The party burns through many hero points on failed rolls. Veve/BB keeps the front line alive with healing songs and fast healing; Abbas supports with Bless and Forbidding Ward. After a long, brutal grind the party finally kills the lone mist stalker. They afterward learn wind could have dispersed the fog, and that the creature was far above their level ('we shouldn't be here'). [S6 · 00:09:56 · turn 0065 · scene 002] |
| 01:35:37 | Aftermath and Healing: Looting the Supply Cache Exhausted and battered, the party recovers over several ten-minute exploration intervals using Treat Wounds, Battle Medicine, and focus-point recovery, while debating whether to retreat. Searching the room, Venris finds a hidden emergency supply cache behind a sliding stone wall containing two lesser healing potions and an unidentified greenish-yellow liquid (later identified as an oak / oaken-resilience potion). Cid drinks a potion. The party decides to head back upstairs toward the previous floor and the boats. [S6 · 01:48:01 · turn 1099 · scene 003] |
| 01:53:55 | Exploration: The Hazard Mound, the Boats, and the Forming Skeleton Climbing back up, the party rediscovers the stairs they came down, plus a nasty steaming biological mound (harmful mold hazard) blocking one route, a cavern with boats / a pilot ship, and a doorway where a giant horned skeleton was forming. Abbas recall-knowledges the mound as harmful mold removable only by someone trained in Survival. Veve (the self-styled 'Poop Mancer') tries to slip past the mound, takes ~10 damage and retreats. With the mound impassable and the forming skeleton cutting off their escape route, the party decides to fight the skeleton. [S6 · 01:58:39 · turn 1201 · scene 004] |
| 02:11:40 | Combat: The Skeletal Giant with the Glaive The party opens the door to a room of ruined furniture and large bones; Veve telekinetically grabs a bone, which finishes assembling a skeletal giant (mindless undead with a glaive, half-plate, and horns). Cid critically disarms it with a Snagging Strike, dropping its glaive. The giant fights with horns/charge and a phantom 'broad swipe' (still acting as if it holds the glaive). The party grinds it down; Veve finishes it by telekinetically shattering a wooden chair into it. They loot the giant's half-plate (good condition) and recover the glaive. [S6 · 02:13:33 · turn 1366 · scene 005] |
| 02:42:06 | Exploration: Mapping the Vaults, Torture Chamber, and the Collapsing Nimbaloth Shrine The party explores further, hearing distant sloshing water (suspected swamp/dragon area) and a faint crackle of fire-and-water behind a door. They try to align their in-game map with the keep's lighthouse and conclude this dungeon level does not match their existing map. Venris uses a brass ear to listen through doors. They find and clear a torture chamber (rack, tongs, chains, whips), and a rusted ring that opens a hidden passage. Beyond a secret door is a circular room with a mossy Nimbaloth skull symbol on the eastern wall; the party smashes the magical idol, which collapses the room's floor into a ~30-foot brick pit/tunnel with a door at the bottom. Past another door they glimpse a circular room with a coiling pale-blue light-ribbon and the desiccated remains of an enormous worm apparently being reanimated — they slam the door shut. They deduce this circular room sits directly below the lighthouse. [S6 · 02:56:13 · turn 1788 · scene 006] |
| 03:18:50 | Combat: Ambushing the Morlocks in the Hall Investigating a snarl from the direction they came, the party spots pale gray, mushroom-eyed humanoids (morlocks) carrying clubs. Venris uses his Surprise Attack for the first time, sneaking up and critically hitting/bloodying one before they fully react. The morlocks speak among themselves ('I told you they were here'). The party drops and chases the fleeing, nearly-dead morlocks; Veve tries hooking one with a chain/rake taken from the torture room. Venris switches to a shortbow to finish a runner with a headshot. The session ends mid-cleanup, with the party agreeing to loot the corpses (only clubs and tattered clothes) and resume next time. [S6 · 03:20:28 · turn 2014 · scene 007] |
