Zebub (devil) is a type of fly-devil (also called a fly-demon) native to the deeper infernal levels beneath Gauntlight — a small, winged, buzzing creature capable of flight, summoning monkey swarms, and inflicting disgusting biting attacks. The party first encountered a Zebub-type devil in [S48] when they glimpsed one flying in a hallway, noting that it looked nearly identical to the 'cleaner boy' Sazlarin they had met earlier. They closed the door and left it alone, marking the creature as evidence of diabolic presence on that floor. Zebuds appeared in force in [S60], when multiple fly-devils fought alongside a Barbazus in the torture chamber. They used their flight advantage to maneuver and flank, and could summon a monkey troop. Venris one-shotted the first; a second was summoned in a subsequent wave. In [S61], a distinct female Zebub fought alongside the Dreshkans. She cast a summon-monkey-swarm and a deafening cacophony, flew high into a defensive position, then dove to lick and mandible-bite faces — dealing piercing and spirit damage with disgusting effects. The GM played her as spitefully antagonistic. Cid skewered her on the Rosa Argentis. Notably, she carried a key and a silver pentagram shard matching a shard already in the party's possession, raising questions about the shards' significance and distribution. As of [S61], the Zebub type has been confirmed as a recurring infernal combat element in the lower levels, distinguished by flight, summoning capability, and the ability to carry plot-relevant items.
