A 9th-level incorporeal undead spirit wreathed in sickly green flames, first found patrolling the catwalk of a prison vault deep in the vaults — a 30-foot chamber holding fifteen transparent pillars, each suspending a frozen creature (a dryad, a gibbering mouther, and others), with no release mechanism found. Identified by the party as a witchfire: it requires ghost-touch to harm and attacks anything on sight. On first contact the party timed its patrol and sneaked past it via Follow the Expert rather than fighting [S54]. When the party returned, a glowing green creature waited outside the now-broken pillar chamber and the witchfire was fought: it cast spells by voice (shut down whenever it was inside Abbas's silence aura, which also forced it to move and provoke attacks), dealt heavy fire and void damage and set Venris alight, and flew above the silence to prepare a 6th-level Phantasmal Calamity (11d6) before Cidolfus cut it down. It dissipated to ash with no loot. A psychic flash showed Venris that this spirit had formed from a hag whom Belcorra burned alive with green flame inside one of the pillars; Abbas's religion check warned it could return within a couple of days, so he prayed over the burnt chamber to try to stop its regeneration [S56].
