The party carries artifacts that once belonged to the Rose Guard: Otari's key, held by Venice/Venris; a sword/club; and a cloak worn by Veve. Otari's ghost sensed his dead comrades in these items and believed each held a fragment or memory of a Rose Guard soul; the relics were later used to pass the bar. [S58]
A later secret check indicated the souls are not actually inside the relics, leaving the binding unexplained. Ranolas later sensed a piece of each Rose Guard member within the corresponding relic, but could not sense the crystalline structure he expected as a soul conduit. [S58, S66]
