Aklo inscription is an otherworldly written and spoken language encountered at multiple points throughout the campaign. It first appeared in S9 as text scratched beneath a portrait of Belcorra, reading "I serve you still, you shall be avenged" [S9 02:43:58]. Veve identified the script as Aklo and noted it is distinct from Sylvan — a language the fey would use — implying the inscription's author had a connection to something stranger and more eldritch than the dungeon's surface-level fey inhabitants. Aklo resurfaced in S41 when the party recovered a book written in multiple scripts — Dwarven, Elven, Necril, and Aklo together [S41 02:10:51]. Veve, who knows Aklo, was able to read the relevant passages while refocusing, confirming the language persists as a functional tool for accessing written lore in the deeper dungeon. As of S48, Aklo was also identified as the spoken tongue of the chained Sagathi creature the party encountered [S48 06:01:32]. Only Abbas, the party's cleric, understood the Sagathi's speech, allowing him to translate its call to the Grothlet and its recognition of the party as intruders. This marks Aklo's expansion from inscribed curiosity to active alien communication — spoken by non-human entities in the lower depths, with Abbas serving as the sole interpreter bridging the party and these creatures.
