The Cackling jester-stalker is a fast, elusive creature encountered by the party inside the vault. It has a tengu- or raven-crow-like appearance and is described visually as a jester or masked girl — earning the player nickname "Shaco if he was a bird furry" [S42]. During its first appearance it stalked the party for much of the session, announcing itself only as a bird-like cackle or crow sound trailing behind them, fleeing whenever noticed and appearing to delight in tormenting Veve specifically [S42]. At the end of that session Venris pursued it using his Bracelet of Dashing, long-jumped a pit, and tackled what he believed was the creature — capturing it as a cliffhanger. The following session revealed the capture was a trap: the grabbed form was an illusion, a mirror-image-style decoy, while the real creature slipped away [S43]. The party assessed it as some kind of spellcaster or magic-user "having fun" with them rather than engaging in direct combat. It escaped down the stairs and remained at large in the vault as of [S43].
