Current state

Mayhem / Menhem is a wealthy Otari family patriarch connected to the McLani founding-family line, whose name is consistently garbled by transcription noise (rendered variously as Manhattan, Menhems, McLennan). He first appears in [S32] grieving the desecration of his family's bodies in the McLani family catacombs and helping the party open a relic-locked door; he is identified there as the husband of McLani's daughter. By [S38] he is among the townsfolk struck by the dust-turning affliction and taken to the church to recover; despite being unwell and no expert himself, he hands the party Zarmavdian's journal and several research books to help them find a cure. In [S39] he appears as the exhausted lord of a manor whose daughter Doriana has fallen gravely ill, lending the party Tarnak's journal and discussing Venris's nightmares. During [S40] the party spends downtime with him; his children are still sick and he agrees to hold something on the party's behalf. His family history comes into sharper focus in [S50]: he is the head of the Menhems estate, a descendant of the Rose Guard line that carries on Tarnak's body-preservation tradition, and his grandfather passed down the curse story. The family proves warm and accommodating in [S51], offering the party rooms to stay while they watch over Doriana; they are also the source of the Unguent of Timelessness, an old family recipe they had stopped making. In [S54] he is described as a "man of science" skeptical of Rin the psychic, but cooperative — telling the party to ask for whatever they need. As of [S56], Doriana has been saved by the party. Mayhem / Menhem hosts them at his manor and expresses effusive thanks to each PC by name, gifting them the Wand of Locate (a transformed Ruby) and an offer of any item of 7th level or below from Absalom. In [S64], Menhem Manor functions as the party's current Otari base: the family hosts dinner and lodging across multiple nights, lets Venris move stored gear there, and notes that the promised level-seven reward items still need about five or six more days to arrive.
