The mossy elemental cavern is a rocky, pebble-strewn chamber with walls that extend nearly thirty feet high, accessible by going up from the prison level of the Abomination Vaults. When the party first fully explored it [S62], the cavern served as a guarded threshold: sodhounds and a living landslide had been bound there as sentinels, and six loose gemstones were scattered through the earthen floor. It leads onward to the water cavern, placing it on a natural through-route deeper into the complex. Earlier in the same run of sessions, during a descent toward the lower vaults, the party glimpsed what may be a related — or much deeper — cavity: a massive dark dome visible at the bottom of a sealed elevator shaft, so far down that its floor could not be made out [S61, 03:33:51]. The party suspected this vast space might connect to the Darklands and could correspond to a temple of Nimbaloth referenced in Bulcora's journal, though no firm confirmation was reached. As of [S62], the upper mossy cavern's guardians had been encountered and its gemstones noted, while the question of what lies far below the sealed shaft remained open.
