The Malunar Rapier (Cid's) is Cid's signature +1 rapier, a finely crafted blade associated with him from early in the campaign. In S3 it earned the joking nickname 'the cursed sword' after a streak of bad rolls, though it also proved its worth when Cid used it to crit and grapple the corpse lights in the chapel. By S9 his original Malunar rapier had been lost or damaged, so the Otari blacksmith forged a cold-iron replacement: a near 1:1 replica described as slightly longer, a fine weapon in its own right. In that same session Cid threw the blade slashing to behead the blood siphon, demonstrating its utility both in hand and as a projectile [S9, 00:20:30]. In S32 the cold-iron Malunar Rapier met its end: Cid scored a critical strike against the entity described as the 'foul cancer,' and the contact destroyed the blade entirely, leaving only a hilt with ruined runes that were further wrecked by the session's close [S32, 00:31:51]. That session also established the rapier as distinct from Cid's still-functional Rose Sargentes sword, two separate weapons he carried. As of S35, the Malunar Rapier reappears in a new context: it is identified as one of four relics required for the Otari door, carried by Cid, and noted to have once been wielded by a woman — described in-session as a 'pink rapier' [S35, 00:34:54]. A joke about Cid being 'about to lose the Rapier' points to ongoing tension around the weapon's status. Whether this is the destroyed original, the cold-iron replica's remnant hilt, or a related relic remains unresolved as of S35.
