Infernal Wound is the signature debilitating effect delivered by Barbazu (bearded devil) weapons — primarily their glaives and raking beards. The wound burns with infernal energy as if the cut were perpetually fresh, imposing a persistent bleed (1d6) that resists ordinary means of stopping: the hellish heat causes the injury to recur as though freshly inflicted, making standard flat checks to end the bleed harder to pass without assistance or magic. The condition first appeared in a deep-dungeon encounter during [S59], where the Barbazu glaives inflicted persistent bleeding on both Venris and Cid. The wounds proved stubborn throughout the fight and into the post-combat cleanup, requiring magical healing or repeated assisted first aid — the lower-DC variant granted when an ally aids the check — before the party could fully clear them. As of [S60], the same mechanic recurred when another Barbazu engagement produced glaive and beard wounds that burned with demonic flame and carried an inherent advantage to recur. The party again relied on repeated Medicine checks and first aid after combat to close the bleeds. In practice, Infernal Wound functions as a battlefield attrition tool: the bleed itself is modest in isolation, but its resistance to removal forces the party to spend actions and resources during and after each Barbazu encounter rather than recovering passively between fights.
